Calle Reiler is one of the most experienced and popular pianoentertainers in Norway. Celebrating his 20th anniversary in September 2008, Calle has impressed and touched his audience for over two decades with musical entertainment, like very few people have. His distinct style of combining being a highly skilled pianist in various styles, with a vast repertoire and a charisma that captures everyone, enables him to entertain any group of people, regardless of age or size. In addition to performing regularly at pianoclubs in the weekends, he is frequently engaged to entertain groups as diverse as Statoil’s personnel department, a finance advisor’s annual company party and annually, going on the 8th year, a public school’s 10th grader’s Christmas Ball, he has entertained audiences ranging from 15 people to 5000! He also teaches Guitar at a private school.
He started his remarkable musical journey as a 4 year old, playing the harmonica for an audience of 150 persons. Then he played the violin and the viola for 8 years in a symphony orchestra, switched to bass guitar and lead guitar in rock bands, also making his debut as a vocalist by the age of 14. Following musical high school in Oslo, appearing at the school cabaret, performing not as a musician, but as a dancer(!), he came to Stavanger in 1988, and engaged in a collaboration and a life-long friendship with an English guitarist and singer, Charles Moselle. They formed the duo “Back to Bed”, that had a unique sound, with two voices that compared to Simon & Garfunkel or the Everly Brothers in close harmonies, and they mesmerized people in clubs all over the county for 3 years. They are currently planning their reunion, and will be performing as the vocal duo “2Stemt”, using only piano and guitar as their backing.
In 1991, Calle went solo, and toured Norway for 4 years, playing monthly gigs and leaving his musical signature in every town, while still developing his act, expanding his repertoire furthermore, now including all the greatest Norwegian songs, to his audience’s enjoyment.
Calle can play almost anything you could wish for, and if he doesn’t know the song, he will learn it and perform it for you perfectly the next weekend!
With 8 years of study at the University of Oslo and Keio University in Tokyo, giving him a masters degree in Japanese, and extensive studies in social science, sociology and intercultural interaction and communication, one might even say that Calle has a University degree in the art of creating a good vibe or mood to the clubs he appears at, but anyone who experiences Calle, will say that the way he touches his audience musically, undoubtedly comes from his heart. He loves what he’s doing, it shows and it is highly contagious! Enjoy!
